A CARE home in Chester is celebrating after one of its team members was nominated for a prestigious national award.

Jordan Carrington, Maintenance Manager at Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Facilities Management, Maintenance or Housekeeping Team’ category in the Care Home Awards 2024.

The Care Home Awards recognise teams and individuals that demonstrate excellence, innovation, dedication and outstanding contributions within the care sector.

Deewater Grange is a specialist facility providing full-time residential, dementia and nursing care.

Praised by colleagues and residents for his sense of humour, Care UK say Jordan also stands out for his commitment to go above and beyond his role – going as far as inviting the residents to his second stag do and taking them to the local pub.

Founder of the home’s Walking Club, Jordan accompanies residents on a walk first thing in the morning. In addition to encouraging everyone to keep active, the outings are a great social occasion too. He enjoys spending afternoons planting and watering the gardens vegetable patch with the help of green-fingered residents and also helps them to decorate their rooms to ensure they feel right at home.

Jordan said: “I am delighted to be nominated in the Care Home Awards. I truly love working at Deewater Grange – the residents are wonderful and I love putting a smile on their faces.”

Sally Cooper, Home Manager at Deewater Grange, said: “We’re thrilled that Jordan has been shortlisted for this incredible award and recognised nationally for his hard work.

“Working alongside Jordan is always such a pleasure – he goes above and beyond to support residents, whether it’s gardening or organising a stag do. I am really proud of Jordan’s dedication, passion and help in making Deewater Grange a wonderful place to call home– he is a fantastic asset to our team. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for a win for him later this year!”

The winners and finalists will be celebrated at the Royal Garden Hotel, London, on Friday, May 17.
