CONFUSION over the scale of roadworks on a Cheshire town road has been clarified.

Warrington Borough Council was asked for clarification over recent work on Woolston Grange Avenue.

A resident stated their belief that a six-week road closure was to resurface the entire road, and not just one roundabout.

“They did not even cover the worst bit of the road. I would be grateful if someone could question the council on this,” they said.

In response, a council spokesman said: “The recent six-week scheme was the first phase of works to replace the deteriorating road surface at the four roundabouts along Woolston Grange Avenue, including the approaches and exits.

“Additional resurfacing works along the sections between the roundabouts will be considered as part of a future highway resurfacing programme.

“Due to the length of the road and the type of works required, the entire road surface of Woolston Grange Avenue will be expensive to replace and will require several phases of roadworks.”
