A SPECIALIST autism care service in Ellesmere Port has received an accreditation from the National Autistic Society (NAS) following a recent visit.
The Specialist Autism Service at Dover Drive is part of Vivo Care Choices, an in-house service at Cheshire West and Chester Council, and provides a range of support for people with autism.
The service has received an accreditation from NAS, a charity which transforms lives and changes attitudes to help create a society that works for autistic people.
The NAS report highlighted how staff have developed positive and trusting relationships with autistic residents, are sensitive to individual needs and preferences and adapt their support in line with this.
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “This is an excellent achievement for Dover Drive to sit alongside the current ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission.
“The findings from NAS’ visit are overwhelmingly positive and there are always things we can do to continue developing and improving our services.
“The team at Dover Drive support people with some of the most complex needs and it’s clear to see that they do everything they can to support each person’s individual preferences.”
