A BOY is on a mission to raise funds for charity in memory of his beloved granddad - and he needs your help.

Zach Bywaters, six, decided he wanted to do his bit after his mum Kathryn took part in three marathons and four half marathons and raised money for the Wirral Group of the Motor Neurone Disease Association after her dad Dave was diagnosed with the terminal illness.

Her father, who died last autumn, was a keen runner and Zach decided that he would run 60 miles for MNDA to honour him and help the Group assist other people with the disease.

On his JustGiving page he explained: "I would like to raise some money for Motor Neurone Disease awareness, in memory of my Grandy, who died in September. He was funny.

"Grandy loved running marathons with Nana before he was sick and I love running too."

So far the Little Sutton C of E Primary School pupil has run 28 miles and raised £366 which he is delighted about as he was aiming to raise £100 "as he thought this is the biggest amount of money that exists," explained his mum.

Zach is a keen tennis player and his fund raising efforts include running to and from his practice matches at Hoole tennis club, she added.
