A MAN died while swimming on holiday in Greece, a coroner has heard.

An inquest into the death of Andrew James Story opened at Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday.

The 56-year-old, a resident of Frodsham, died on October 12 last year while on holiday on the Greek island of Crete.

The court heard how he passed away while swimming, and that his identity was confirmed by his wife.

A coroner officer stated that the reason for an inquest being requested was for the death being ‘unnatural’.

They requested that an inquest be opened and adjourned for further work to be completed.

This was granted by Jacqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire.

She said: “On the evidence I have heard, I am satisfied that the case should be opened as an inquest.

“The case of Andrew James Story is opened and adjourned to be heard on June 26.”
