A NORTH Wales PC who sexually assaulted three women at a Christmas party in Chester had since resigned but would have been sacked anyway.

An accelerated police disciplinary hearing today (Wednesday) ruled that ex-PC Joseph Robinson, 28, would have been dismissed without notice for gross misconduct had he still been serving.

Last month the former North Wales officer, of Hafod Y Wern, Gwernymynydd, received a 12-month suspended jail sentence.

He was placed on the sex offenders list for ten years after pleading guilty at Chester crown court to three charges of sexual assault.  He had resigned last October.

"Robinson's behaviour that night was totally unacceptable," declared North Wales Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman, announcing the disciplinary decision at Colwyn Bay police headquarters this afternoon.

She added that as the all-Wales police lead against violence towards women and girls she had zero tolerance towards such instances. There was no place in society for  such violence "and certainly not in North Wales Police."

She said his behaviour had been "predatory and targeted despite being challenged during the evening."

The court had heard that ex-PC  Robinson had been drinking when he assaulted the women at the party in Chester in December 2022.

He did not attend today's hearing and was not represented.

The judge at Chester Crown Court in last month's hearing said Robinson had gone on a "rampage" around the room that night, targeting several women.

The court had heard he behaved like "a drunken idiot".

The defendant was handed a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years, during which time he must complete up to 35 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement and the Horizon sex offender treatment programme. He must pay £720 court costs and a surcharge.

In addition, he is subject to the sex offender notification requirements for 10 years.
