THE Standard is set to honour a new class of local heroes as the Education Awards return for 2024.

We will be collecting nominations throughout the coming months, up until May 6, with a ceremony to be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Chester on July 12.

Last year saw us congratulate thirteen winners from the area’s education community, with awards including: Headteacher of the Year, Early Years Education Award, Primary and Secondary School Pupil of the Year and Support Worker of the Year, among others.

ITV journalist and presenter Lucy Meacock will once again be helping us to say thank you to these special individuals by hosting the ceremony this summer.

Excell Supply has kindly agreed to return as our headline sponsor for the event.

If anyone would like to nominate a pupil, teacher, teaching assistant, support worker or anyone within the education sector who has gone above and beyond to help those attending school in Cheshire West to succeed, please get in touch and nominate them.

Jonathon Barnett, editor of the Chester and District Standard and the Ellesmere Port and Neston Standard, said:

“The team at the Standard is super excited to launch our education awards for 2024, following the success of last year’s inaugural event.

“The entries we received for the award categories highlighted the amazing lengths headteachers, teachers, support workers and pupils go to, to make a massive difference in schools and colleges in and around Chester and Ellesmere Port.

“During last year’s glittering awards ceremony at the Double Tree Hilton, the passion and dedication to provide children with the best possible education, was hugely evident and I am sure this year will be no different.”
