An air ambulance was deployed to a road traffic collision on a major Cheshire road between an HGV and a 4x4 vehicle.

The incident was reported to emergency teams at 3.44pm on Monday, February 26, at Wrenbury Road, Cholmondeley, with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service reporting the incident happened at the junction with the A49.

One fire engine from Malpas, one from Nantwich and the major rescue unit based at Winsford were deployed from the fire service, with a helimed also sent to the scene.

One casualty was trapped in the 4x4 and needed extricating by firefighters. Once the crews were able to gain access to the casualty, paramedics were able to give treatment.

Police closed the road in both directions while the incident was being attended to.
