A NEW classical choir concert due to take place in Chester is likely to be one of the biggest that the city has ever seen.

Multi-award-winning opera singer Abigail Harris is bringing her 160-strong choir to Chester for a very special free performance at the Cathedral on Friday, April 5, at 2.30pm.

The showcase will feature performances from well-known opera greats such as Puccini and Verdi, and rousing choruses from Les Misérables and Carousel.

The unique event from the Hertfordshire based group is part of a UK tour prior to their huge shows in Italy. Blowing audiences away internationally, Abigail Harris’ Classical Chorus have received countless 5-star reviews and are excited to debut this year’s selection of songs in Chester. The show will also feature her new collective, Viva Ladies, to make this one of the biggest events to date.

Abigail Harris is a renowned opera singer who graduated with high honours from the Royal Academy of Music. Having performed as a soprano soloist with various opera companies and in acclaimed venues such as St Martin–in–the-fields, The Royal Albert Hall and The Wigmore Hall, she has an eye watering portfolio and has appeared on Channel 4’s TV series Operatunity.

Abigail said: “It’s a delight to be hosting this amazing free event at such a majestic cathedral in a beautiful, historic city. We have prepared a wonderfully varied programme, including female-only arrangements from ‘Viva Ladies Chorus.’ It excites me to be coming to this warm, receptive city for the Classical Chorus project and we’re looking forward to blowing the audience away.

“The Classical Chorus concerts are always very special and the performances give people goosebumps. I’m looking forward to giving the people of Chester an evening to remember. With so many voices coming together to recreate nostalgic songs, it will be a wonderful experience, and it’s FREE!”

Classical Chorus is a non-auditioned choir based in St. Albans Hertfordshire, exploring singing technique, performance skills, ear training and score reading in an encouraging atmosphere.
