A MUM and her two children have been jailed for their family drug business which saw cocaine pedalled across a town in Cheshire.

Angela Sparrow would drive her daughter Terrie Renwick to ‘drug drops’ across Warrington and would also pass any new enquiries from drug users onto her son, Robert Renwick.

Between February 2023 and July 2023, Sparrow and her son also sent more than 1,400 bulk text messages, known as ‘flare’ messages, to drug dealers advertising the sale of cocaine.

Chester and District Standard:

The mum and son appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on Friday to learn their fate after Ms Renwick was jailed previously.

In the past, Ms Renwick has served time behind bars for selling crack cocaine to pay for her honeymoon.

Prosecuting, Henry Riding said the defendants’ offending came to light following a proactive and covert police investigation into the street dealing of class A drugs in Warrington.

Mr Riding said that the duo’s offending took place between February 2023 and July 2023 and that during this period, 1,493 messages flare messages were sent between them.

Chester and District Standard:

They advertised ‘quality’ class A drugs and Renwick even offered the substances on credit.

Upon Renwick’s arrest, which was carried out on the same day as his mother’s, he was found to be in possession of 21.8g of cocaine which if dealt in 1g deals, would be worth around £2,000.

Liverpool Crown Court heard how Sparrow, 58, was convicted of being concerned in the supply of cocaine following a trial but continues to deny her offending.

While Renwick pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Both defendants have previous convictions.

Chester and District Standard:

Defending his client, Michael Scholes said how Sparrow has a ‘long history’ of drug addiction and mental health issues.

He said how Sparrow played a ‘lesser role’ in the dealing compared to her daughter who was a ‘powerful character’.

Defending Renwick, Zahra Baqri said that her client is ‘deeply ashamed’ for his offending and that he became involved in the dealing due to drug debt he inherited through his sister’s partner who fled.

Sparrow was handed two years and eight months in prison while Renwick was handed three years.
