FRESH plans have been submitted to increase the number of homes on a new housing estate in Cheshire.

Developer Castle Green Homes had already been granted outline permission for 97 properties on land at Daresbury Business Park, but it has now submitted an application to Halton Council to change part of the scheme to fit in an additional eight homes – taking the total number to 105.

The 12-acre plot of land is next to Red Brow Lane and sits alongside another section of the same wider housing development.

The application seeks permission to change some of the already agreed aspects of the original plan, including moving a road to accommodate more houses.

A planning document submitted in support said that the addition of eight more homes would reduce the amount of public open space on that part of the estate, but that this would be offset by an ‘oversupply’ of open space on a neighbouring parcel of land.

The majority of the planned homes (48) would be four bed detached properties, followed by 27, three bed detached, and 20, two bed end/mid terrace. There would be eight, three bed mid/end terrace houses and two, three bed semis. It said a total of 30 would be classed as ‘affordable’, via schemes such as affordable rent and discount market value.

The report said: “It (the estate) has been carefully and sensitively designed to a high standard, providing all the key elements to ensure the creation of a sustainable mixed community."

The first residents moved into Castle Green’s Bridgewater View development in the summer, with house prices starting at £339,995. The wider scheme could eventually see more than 350 homes built across 31 acres of land.

The document added: "The approval of this reserved matters application would meet the aspirations and objectives of the Halton Borough Council development plan, delivering a mix of dwelling on an allocated site that would contribute towards the borough’s housing land supply."
