A man has pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images, including those of the most serious category.

Michael Rhodes, 65, previously of Kingswood Park, Manley, Frodsham but currently of Harnham Lane, Withington, Cheltenham, admitted a total of six charges at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 20.

He admitted that, between January 1, 2014 and December 9, 2022 in Frodsham, he had a total of 38 indecent images of children.

Of those, nine were assessed as the most serious category - category A - with eight assessed as category B and 21 as category C.

In addition, he admitted possessing two prohibited images of children.

He also admitted possessing two extreme pornographic images between October 31 and December 9, 2022, involving people and animals.

Magistrates agreed the case was too serious to be dealt with and committed it to the crown court for sentence.

Rhodes was bailed on condition he does not contact any children aged under 18, and is to appear at Chester Crown Court on March 26.
