Dog walkers in the Chester area are being invited to take their pet pooch for fundraising walkies and help a local hospice.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford is inviting residents to take part in a sponsored 6km dog walk in Chester on March 24, where their dogs can be a Hospice Hound.

Entry is free until March 9 and those taking part are being encouraged to raise as much money as possible to support the hospice. Anyone who feels they are unable to raise sponsorship is instead asked to make an optional donation.

Every dog registered will receive a goodie bag and certificate of completing the walk and becoming a Hospice Hound.

Those taking part should meet at Hickory’s on Sunday, March 24 at 9.30am, where they will have chance to purchase some food to fuel up, before setting off on the route.

Unfortunately, due to the route of the walk, the event is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Free entry ends on March 9 and after this date there will be a £20 registration fee.
