AN important diversion route in Chester has had to be closed this morning (Friday, February 16) as a result of a collision.

The incident, which took place on the roundabout at the junction of Caldy Valley Road and the A41, occurred at around 8.25am this morning.

Cheshire Police attended the scene and found that a blue Vauxhall Corsa and an HGV had collided.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.

The road was then closed northbound between Round Hill Meadow (Huntington) to A41 (Boughton Heath junction, Vicars Cross) whilst the scene was cleared and has since reopened.

Caldy Valley Road is part of a diversion put in place to avoid work on Sandy Lane as Severn Trent connect Huntington Water Treatment Works to Boughton Water Treatment Works.

The 11-month project began on January 29 and will see a 3km pipeline used to link the two sites.
