MOTORISTS are being warned of delays on the motorway this afternoon, Wednesday.
This is due to an accident which occurred on the M6 northbound at around midday.
The crash was reported between junctions 22 for the A49 Winwick Link Road and 23 for the A580 East Lancashire Road at Haydock Island.
One lane is currently closed and queueing traffic is reported due to the accident.
All traffic was temporarily held, causing delays, but two have since reopened.
Lane one of three remains closed within the roadworks area.
Drivers are urged to allow extra time for journeys through the area.
