A YELLOW warning for snow remains in place for Chester and surrounding areas despite heavy rain this morning (Thursday, February 8).

The alert covers much of the North of England and is set to stay until at least tomorrow, with additional amber warnings for large parts of North Wales and the Peak District.

The borough has seen heavy rain instead of the snow so far today, although the Met Office is still predicting snow until 11am. The wet conditions mean any flurries are unlikely to stick.

Temperatures are likely to remain in low single figures throughout, with highs of 3 degrees this evening.

The chance of precipitation is not set to drop below 50 percent all day, with heavy downpours forecast between 12pm and 2pm and from 9pm until the early hours of Friday morning.

Showers are also likely throughout Friday, with dry patches and drizzle expected between 7 and 8am.

Some sunshine is expected to break through the cloud in the mid-afternoon before a drier evening with chances of rain dropping to between 10 and 20 percent.

Tomorrow is also due to be milder, with temperatures reaching 8 degrees in the afternoon and early evening.

The Yellow warning for snow is due to be lifted on Saturday, with less rain expected over the weekend.
