PLANS to build homes on the site of a former Chester country club and spa have been resubmitted.

Previously, we reported on the proposal for the extension and conversion of the existing buildings at the vacant Old Hall Country Club and Spa off Aldford Road, Huntington, to create a residential development.

The plans were given the green light last year by Cheshire west and Chester Council, but have now been submitted with a bid for 12 new homes, rather than the original 13 proposed.

There have also been minor alterations to the opening and room layouts, due to one of the intended units no longer splitting into two dwellings.

In a design and access statement provided by NSC Planning Limited, on behalf of applicants Alchemette Ltd: "There will be sufficient vehicle storage space on site for residents, as well as a communal bike shed, encouraging healthy lifestyles and a better carbon footprint, reducing dependency on cars to travel around the local area.

"The proposal has been meticulously designed to respect the character of the area, being rural in appearance and design.

"The use for this site has already been considered as residential use following a previous planning application approval.

"There will be suitable landscaping implemented into the scheme which will result in contributing to less of an impact on the Green Belt setting than the existing hardstanding that currently remains on the site, and the large fencing and untidy hedging around the site."

The plans are due to be decided by Cheshire West and Chester Council at a later date.
