A BRAND new dance, drama and music Saturday School for 11 to 16-year-olds is set to run at the University of Chester.

The Pathways Saturday School is a 10-week programme launching on Saturday, February 24 in Chester.

Each participant will be able to creatively explore all aspects of the performing and creative arts guided by professionals in the creative arts from the University.

Each music, dance and drama session will be led by specialists from the University and will enable participants to experience performing arts in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment whilst encouraging and celebrating individuality.

No experience is necessary with sessions open to all abilities. Those who have never tried performing or have no experience are welcome to join in a fun, open and supportive way.

With the aim of keeping the arts accessible for all, sessions are just £5 on a pay-as-you-go basis or pay £30 in advance for all ten. All bookings and payments need to be completed before the sessions start here. Free places are available for those on free school meals.

Held at the University’s Kingsway Campus, the sessions run from 9.45am to 12.45pm.

Free taster workshops will take place on February 3 and 17 giving those interested the chance to meet the workshop leaders and find out more. Places can be secured here.

Eli Williams and Holly Roberts, Workshop Leaders in Performing Arts from the University are looking forward to the sessions.

“Our aim is to boost young people’s self-confidence, communication and social skills, provide specialist training and most of all celebrate creativity", Eli said.

Holly added: “We strongly believe that creating a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for young people to be themselves is crucial in fulfilling these aims.”
