STAFF and residents at an Ellesmere Port care home came together today (Monday, January 22) to celebrate a very special birthday.

Selina Warburton, originally from Churton near Chester, marked her 100th birthday with a party at Acorn Manor residential care home.

Local singer Paul Heath, who makes regular visits to Acorn Manor, helped to get everyone in the party mood by playing some of Selina's favourite songs including 'Can't Help Falling in Love'.

The centenarian was also delighted by the arrival of a card from King Charles congratulating her on the milestone. The Royal card, she says, will take pride of place in her room.

Selina said that she had "thoroughly enjoyed" the day and had a "wonderful time" at her party adding that she had wanted to continue to "dance through the afternoon."

Deputy Manager Kay Sadler said: "Selina has been with us since 2021 and it has been a honour to be apart of her journey, and to share her 100th birthday.

"Selina is a big character at Acorn Manor and staff share laughs with her each day due to her witty character."
