A SEVEN year-old from Ellesmere Port completed a 10k in less than 50 minutes run to raise money for his local boxing club.

Zac Blohm ran the 10k at the weekend to raise funds for Wirral CP boxing club and may possibly have set a new record for someone of his age.

In completing the 10k Zac, a Year 2 pupil at Whitby Heath Primary School, raised an amazing £610 which will help towards the renovation and expansion of the club.

Zac finished his run in 49 minutes and 20 seconds, which could potentially be the fastest ever time recorded in the UK in completing a 10k for someone of that age.

His proud mum Samantha Jackson has contacted the Guinness Book of Records to clarify whether Zac has set a new record.

She said: “Myself and his dad Todd are incredibly proud of him, and his attitude and determination to sports and fitness and helping others.

“He did it so effortlessly and just really took it all in his stride. He also raised £610 for the boxing club which is fantastic and we can’t thank everyone enough for donating for him.”

“The money will go towards the club’s expansion and developmental plans.”

Wirral CP Boxing Club is more than just a gym, it offers fitness and wellbeing to the community from the TOTS Class on a Tuesday for children under the age of six, to their Sunday Inclusive Class.

Samantha added: “Carl gives up so much time for the gym and spends so many hours there around his full-time job, fiancé and two kids.

“He is absolutely fantastic with all the children but especially Zac. He ran the whole way with him yesterday encouraging him and keeping him going throughout the whole thing!”

As well as Carl other coaches at the gym who play their part include Lee Holmes, Paul Butler, Alex Foulkes, Jay Montessori, Kyle Timson, Matty Fagan, Gary Sheriden, Jas Millett and Eddie Thompson to name but a few among the many.

Everyone at Wirral CP Boxing Club is very proud of Zac’s achievements and looking forward to taking the club’s plans forward.
