A WOMAN and a teenage boy have been arrested after a man was stabbed in a suspected 'targeted' attack in Cheshire West.

Police were called to the scene in Wharton Gardens, Winsford, shortly after 5pm yesterday (January 14)  following reports a man had sustained serious injuries.

On arrival, officers discovered a 20-year-old man had suffered a number of stab wounds. He was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.

An investigation was launched into the incident and a 31-year-old woman and a boy, aged 16, were taken into custody on suspicion of section 18 assault.

The suspects, both from the Winsford area, were quizzed about the incident and remain in custody assisting officers with their inquiries.

The investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing, with officers appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Superintendent Saf Ali said: “This investigation is in its early stages and we’re doing all we can to establish exactly what has taken place.

“Initial enquiries suggest that this was a targeted incident, and as part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any video footage.
