SCOTTISH Power has apologised to people living in an area of Chester hit by a series of recent outages.

Some properties in the Huntington area were left without power for three nights last week due to a "fault on the system".

One resident said: "Parts of Huntington have had power cuts on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evening, usually around dinner time and on Tuesday until the early hours of the morning.

"Residents have been offered £10 vouchers as compensation but they have to apply for them.

"The area houses a lot of elderly residents who are probably being left with no way to heat their homes or make a hot meal."

A Scottish Power spokesperson said: “We apologise for the disruption caused to customers by these outages. A generator used, whilst we worked on a fault on the system, failed leading to the losses in supply.

"We have reconfigured this to ensure it doesn’t happen again and are working quickly to have the repair completed in the next 24 hours.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused and offered meal vouchers to customers who are off supply."
