A Cheshire family are offering a £2,000 reward for information that could lead to the safe return of their much-loved missing dog.
Three-year-old red cocker spaniel Cooper is the family dog of four children and parents Kaili-Jayne and Steve McGowan, former residents of Mickle Trafford who moved just a few miles up the road to the village of Dunham-on-the-Hill in November.
The family have had Cooper from a puppy and he is a vital therapy dog to two of their four young children who have additional needs.
Cooper, who is microchipped and neutered, went missing from his new family home more than five weeks ago on Thursday, November 23, and there's now a regional search for him across Cheshire as it is believed he may have been stolen, with a possible sighting of Cooper being put into a black 4x4 vehicle that day.
Residents in the Cheshire West and Chester area are being urged to be vigilant and help the heartbroken family be reunited with their cherished pet.
Speaking to The Standard, Kaili said her children have really been struggling in Cooper's absence, and were devastated their Christmas wish for Cooper to come home didn't come to pass.
She said: "He is a very much-loved member of the family and we miss him terribly. It's really been a heartbreaking time."
Kaili added the local community has been "incredible" with its offers of support for the family in the search efforts, while the appeal for information has been shared with Bindi's Lost & Found Pets CIC and among hundreds of residents.
- Anyone who has information and/or has unexpectedly acquired a dog matching that seen in the photos of Cooper is urged to call 07769 200153 or 07748 171515. Calls will be treated anonymously and confidentially, with the family simply wanting their companion and support dog back in their day-to-day lives.
