A FLOOD alert remains in place for parts of Chester with more rain expected tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued the amber alert after the rain of recent days, with more forecast for Saturday (December 30).

Meanwhile Townfield Lane in Farndon remains cut off.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "River levels are slowly rising on the River Dee in response to recent rainfall.

"Levels are due to peak later today, but there is more rain forecast tomorrow (December 30).

"Flooding is possible at low lying land and roads around the River Dee at Shocklach, Farndon, Handley, Lower Kinnerton, Chester and Puddington.

Townfield Lane remains cut off. River levels are expected to remain high for the next few days.

"We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary.

"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."
