With nativity plays in full swing, sparkling lights on homes, wreaths on front doors, and office parties back with a vengeance, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

And whilst we all make merry amongst family and friends, let us also take a moment to remember those here in Eddisbury, across the UK, and abroad for whom the festive season is not filled with so much cheer.

It’s also an opportunity to thank everyone who, over the last year, has taught our children, cared for our loved ones and kept our communities safe – such as Cheshire Police, who have bucked national trends by reducing crime in our area this year, and our local school teachers, who – having shown incredible resilience over the Covid and post-Covid period – saw more of their pupils achieve their first choice university than previously.

At a time of much turbulence and trouble, these tidings of comfort bring the security and joy so needed in all our lives.

So, wherever and however you are spending this special time, I wish you and your family a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
