THE investigation into a stabbing at a Cheshire West railway station remains ongoing.

British Transport Police has provided an update following a reported stabbing on a train at Hartford Railway Station.

Back in the summer, a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was later released on bail.

A spokesperson for BTP has now confirmed the man’s bail has been extended until January 28, 2024, with a further update expected then.

For now, 'enquiries are still ongoing', the spokesperson added.

BTP were called to Hartford station at around 4pm on July 28 amid reports that a man had been stabbed on a train travelling from Liverpool to Birmingham.

Cheshire Police officers also attended, with Chester Road closed for several hours.

The victim, a man in his 50s, received first aid assistance by paramedics from the North West Air Ambulance.

He was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries 'not thought to be life threatening'.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said at the time: "We were called at 4.05pm to respond to a police incident.

"An ambulance, advanced paramedic, a response vehicle and an air ambulance attended.

"One patient with serious injuries was airlifted to hospital, and another was taken by road."
