A DENTAL practice looks set to relocate within Chester city centre.
Cheshire West and Chester Council planners have granted permission to change the use of a unit on Foregate Street, which was previously home to Nisbets until 2020, to a My Dentist practice.
Prior to Nisbets the unit was occupied by the Fitness Superstore, and before that was a car showroom.
My Dentist already has a practice centre on Northgate Street in Chester which offers a mix of private and NHS appointments, with this planning permission allowing it to be relocated across the city centre.
A planning statement submitted by Rapleys on behalf of the applicant made the case for the change.
It said: “The surrounding area consists of a mixture of commercial and residential uses.
“East and west of the site along Foregate Street lie a number of pubs, restaurants, and convenience stores.
“The area north of the site is primarily characterised by a wide range of commercial and retail activities. The area to the south of the site towards the River Dee is predominantly residential. Additionally, a car park lies above the unit.”
It added: “The application seeks a Lawful Development Certificate to confirm that the lawful use of the unit is Use Class E; in order to relocate from their current location at 2 Upper Northgate Street, Chester. Through establishing this use, it is proposed to convert the property for dentistry use which now also falls within the new Use Class E.”
The plans have been given the green light by the council’s planning department, with a lawful development certificate issued for the change of use of the building.
