A FLOOD warning has been put in place this morning (Monday, December 11) for Chester and some surrounding areas.

The area affected, the River Dee catchment, stretches from Chester to Whitchurch and includes: Shocklach, Farndon, Handley, Lower Kinnerton, Chester and Puddington.

River levels on the Dee are high due to heavy rainfall over the past few days, and they are expected to remain high over the next few. Townfield Lane in Mollington is also likely to remain cut off by flood water.

The Gov.uk website says that further rainfall is forecast this evening and overnight and that the situation is being closely monitored.

Residents are also warned to avoid walking, cycling or driving through areas of flood water.
