Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a fatal collision in Dunham-on-the-Hill, near Chester.

At around 5pm on Friday 8 December, police were called to reports of a collision on the B5132, Station Lane, between Chester Road and Morley Lane.

Officers attended the scene and found that a blue Volkswagen Golf had collided with a tree.

The driver of the car was released from the vehicle by firefighters and treated by paramedics.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, the 27-year-old from Winsford was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

Enquiries in relation to the collision and officers are urging witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Andrew Dennison, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a serious collision in which a young man has sadly lost his life and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time.

“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from who witnessed what happened or has any information to aid our investigation. The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage of the incident.

“I’m particularly keen to hear from a driver who initially stopped at the scene following the collision, bur left prior to the arrival of emergency services. The driver was seen leaving in the direction of the A56, Chester Road.”
