CHESTER musical theatre hopeful Esme Bowdler will compete this Sunday (December 10) in the final of ITV's Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream.
It is more than two months since Esme first took to the stage in Corfu to begin her journey alongside 13 other talented young performers vying for the roles of Sophie and Sky, in the West End production of ABBA musical Mamma Mia!
Presented by Zoe Ball, the group were put through their paces by celebrity judges including Alan Carr, Jessie Ware, Samantha Barks and Amber Riley under the watchful eye of Mamma Mia! creator and global producer, Judy Craymer, Esme is one of four finalists heading to the live final.
Esme and Stevie are aiming to be crowned as the show's 'Sophie' whilst Tobias and Owen will compete to become the show's 'Sky'.
Chester native Esme credits the film adaptation of Les Misérables and pantomimes with inspiring her to pursue musical theatre. Leaving school at 16, Esme trained in musical theatre at a college in nearby Liverpool, where she found a real love for the industry.
Counting 'The Winner Takes It All' as her "absolute favourite" ABBA song, she will be hoping to replicate the sentiment this weekend.
The finale will be live from the Novello Theatre in London on Sunday from 6.10pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
