THE Snowman will be making a return to Chester Cathedral this month, with special guest stars Wallace and Gromit.

Carrot Productions will be putting on three shows at the cathedral during the day on Thursday, December 21 as part of a national tour.

The Snowman will be screened and will be accompanied by a live orchestra for what will be the ninth consecutive year. Performances take place at 1.45pm, 4pm and 6.30pm.

And, to mark 30 years since the Oscar-winning stop-motion animation was first shown, Aardman’s hit ‘Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers’ will also be shown and the music performed live in the cathedral.

The striking performance of BAFTA-winning hit ‘The Snowman’ will be accompanied by a selection of Britain’s top music talent and feature Chester Cathedral chorister Verity Lowe (singing Walking in the Air), a magical whistle-stop Christmas guide to the orchestra, and a visit from the Snowman himself, aiming to create cherished memories for the whole family.

After each performance, the audiences, young and adult alike, will be invited to meet the world-acclaimed musicians in their outstanding costumes, and learn all about their musical instruments.

Uniquely, Carrot Productions always offers young vocalists local to the venues the life-changing opportunity to join the performance and sing Peter Auty’s timeless song ‘Walking in the Air’ from ‘The Snowman’ soundtrack.

The orchestra has already hosted over 300 soloists with many testifying that the experience altered the direction of their life.

Show viewers will also join the adventures of everyone’s favourite cheese-loving inventor, Wallace, and his trustworthy companion, Gromit, in the screening of ‘The Wrong Trousers’ by multi-Academy Award-winning animation studio Aardman, marking 30 years since the iconic animation was first screened.

Molly Van Den Brink, Aardman attraction and live experiences manager, said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Carrot Productions again to bring Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. Hearing the film’s incredible score played live by Carrot’s talented orchestra is bound to get fans in the festive spirit and we are delighted to have this opportunity to celebrate those Techno Trousers in such an enchanting way."

Carrot Productions has staged over 350 Snowman shows to date, making it the world’s leading performer of ‘The Snowman’ with live orchestra.

Rachel Whibley, managing director at Carrot Productions, says: “I am delighted we are visiting so many wonderful venues again with The Snowman this Christmas, and especially thrilled to continue our partnership with Aardman, staging performances of their iconic film, Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, with the score performed live by our musicians. The combination of two of Britain’s most beloved characters and brands together in one performance should be very special indeed.”
