SIX new flats are to be built for adults with learning difficulties and their support workers in the Ellesmere Port area.
Cheshire West and Chester Council planners have given the green light for the development on the site of the former Croft Care Home on Mill Lane in Great Sutton.
According to the drainage report produced by civil engineers JMS which were submitted with the plans, the former care home was demolished in the wake of an arson attack.
It states: “The proposed development includes the construction of a new residential building, following the demolition of an existing building due to an arson attack.
“The site is situated in a residential area with dwellings situated immediately to the south and west of the proposed site.
“This site is a brownfield site which until recently comprised an existing dwelling with access into the site via a bridge to the east. The proposed development includes the construction of a new dwelling with associated patio area, garden, and car parking spaces.”
Plans were submitted to the council more than a year ago before being approved last week.
