A Cheshire guitarist is raising money for vulnerable communities with the sale of his latest album of guitar music.

Michael Gough, from Frodsham, is a Methodist local preacher as well as volunteering as a speaker, group organiser and church rep for Christian Aid.

He has released several albums and donated the profits to the international development agency and is once again putting his musical talents to good use with his latest collection of acoustic guitar solos, entitled ‘…a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path’.

Michael explained: “My music is often inspired by people or places relating to my Christian faith. Passages from scripture have also spoken to me musically; for example, Psalm 119:105 - which is where the title piece of this collection comes from.

“It is greatly pleasing to me that people have warmed to my music which I describe as Celtic-influenced folk music, and I am delighted to donate the proceeds to Christian Aid, whose work I have supported for more than 30 years.”

Michael has also put together a Christmas concert at Norley Methodist Church, on Friday, December 15, at which he will be performing.

The event, at 7pm, is raising money for Christian Aid’s emergency appeals, including the Libya Floods Appeal. Also on the bill are the Keith Singleton Jazz Trio, vocalist Annie Long, and singer/songwriter Gus Glynn.

Tickets are available from Norley Methodist Church or from MG Custom Guitars (07748 112214).

Michael’s album is available to listen to and/or download on Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer, and other digital music platforms. Links can be found on his website at www.michaelgoughmusic.co.uk
