THERE is plenty of seasonal cheer to enjoy for visitors to markets in Chester and Ellesmere Port this month.

The Ellesmere Port Christmas Extravaganza includes two Christmas markets by Homegrown Events on December 9 and December 16 at the Ellesmere Port Flea-Market from 10am until 4pm. The special markets will include seasonal gifts and festive drinks.

Santa's Grotto will be in the indoor market on Saturday 9 and 16 December (11am to 3pm), and Sunday, December 17 (10am to 2pm), £2 per child.

Chester’s award-winning indoor market has a busy programme of free music performances in the run-up to Christmas including four local choirs. 

Drury Lane perform on December 1 (7pm), while the monthly Soul Social returns on December 2 (7pm). 

A Christmas table decoration demonstration, featuring Lisa from Purely Pots, will take place on December 7 (11am), while the stage is set for the Richard G Jones Trio on December 8 (7.30pm). On December 9, there will be carol singing from Chester Gang Show (1.30pm), Proud Mays Choir (3pm) and songs from market favourite Becky Tester (7.30pm).

Fusion Choir perform on December 10 (2pm), followed by Connor Lawlor on December 15 (7.30pm). On December 16, Handbag of Harmonies (3pm) and John Walliss (7.30pm) star.

Fusion Choir return on December 21 (6pm), and DJ Crustum will play tunes on December 22 (7.30pm).

In addition to the indoor offers, there are Makers Markets in Chester outside the indoor market in Exchange Square every weekend until December 17 and the popular Christmas Market in Chester Town Hall Square is in full swing.
