VOLUNTEERS, councillors with grounds maintenance and StreetCare staff from the council have been joining forces this week in a clear-up of one part of Chester.
Improving the area around Caldy Valley Road in Great Boughton has been among the focus of week-long activities. Residents had been having issues with the width of the path, encroaching bushes and the general breadth of hedges.
StreetCare and grounds maintenance staff joined forces with volunteers.
On day one, borough councillor Elizabeth MacGlashan was among those who joined Great Boughton Parish Council chair Keith Scargill and parish councillor Jeanette McCartan in working alongside Cheshire West and Chester Council grounds maintenance team and StreetCare representatives.
Cllr MacGlashan said: “There was a great turnout and a fabulous atmosphere, despite the weather.
“It was a real collaborative effort with tools, a safety briefing and equipment provided by CWaC.

“Hopefully it will highlight the merits of joint working between volunteers and the council and will encourage people to play their part.”
B&M provided supplies, the Twirl of Hey pub hosted the safety briefing and Chester Cycling Association representative picked up his tools and joined in too.
