ACCORDING to new research Cheshire West and Chester is one of the top 10 areas with the fewest properties for sale on Rightmove per population.

The research has revealed the top 10 areas of the UK with the fewest properties for sale on the property website, with Cheshire West and Chester featuring in sixth place, with only 216 properties listed on the site per 100,000 people.

The research comes from Swift Direct Blinds which has created a 'UK Property Index' to reflect the most desirable places in the UK to live, the areas with the biggest increase in house prices over the past five and 10 years.

It also includes the areas with the highest mid-year house prices and the areas with the fewest properties for sale on Rightmove, as well as the areas where residents are searching for property the most.

Glasgow has been named the most desirable place to live in according to the research after being awarded a desirability score of 8.01/10. Between June 2013 and June 2023, house prices increased from £101,615 to £173,259, which is an increase of 70.51 per cent.

When looking at the areas which have seen the biggest increase in house prices over the past 10 years, Manchester tops the list with an increase of 94.45 per cent, while Waltham Forest is the London borough with the biggest increase at 101.11 per cent.

Residents in Fife are searching online for properties the most, with over 39,000 searches for ‘properties in Fife’ between September 2022 and August 2023. During the same period searches for ‘properties in Islington’ surpassed 5,000, which is more than any other London borough.
