A MAN armed with a knife at Chester Bus Interchange who attacked two police officers has been jailed.

Jamie Spencer, 19, of no fixed abode, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Saturday, November 18 to plead guilty to a total of five charges in relation to the incident, which happened at the bus interchange on November 16.

As well as possessing a knife and attacking two police officers, Spencer admitted threatening behaviour and resisting a police officer.

Magistrates said the offending was aggravated as it was against emergency workers, and it was the second time the defendant had been found in possession of a knife in a public place.

Spencer was "well known to probation" and therefore did not require a pre-sentence report.

He was jailed for a total of 46 weeks, and his guilty pleas were taken into account.

The knife was to be forfeited and destroyed.
