TEENAGERS attacked an elderly man outside a pub.

Winsford Police officers have managed to track down two teenage boys accused of assaulting an 80-year-old man outside the Red Lion in Winsford.

One of the suspects punched or pushed the man on October 22, knocking him to the ground.

The second then straddled the victim whilst putting his hands around his throat.

“Thankfully the victim suffered only minor physical injuries, however this incident will no doubt have a long term emotional impact on both him and his family members,” said a spokesperson for Winsford Police.

Two suspects, aged 14 and 15 and both from Winsford, have since been identified by officers.

They were interviewed under caution and are now due to appear at South Cheshire Youth Magistrates on December 7.

The police spokesperson added: “Behaviour such as this is committed by a select few in this town, and we are determined to put an end to it.

“We need the support of the local community to work with us to make Winsford a hostile place for criminals, and would urge you to report any anti-social behaviour or crimes to us.”
