Equine event to raise funds for Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance

The Christmas Equine Bazaar will feature more than 45 stalls from local sellers all based in and around Chester, helping to promote small businesses as well as raise money for two vital charities.

There will also be a raffle, talks from both North West Air Ambulance and Mountain Rescue, product demonstrations, onsite catering, hot drinks, cakes and a bar. The event is set to take place at Cheshire County Sports Club on November 25 and 26.

Co-organiser Anita Dodd said: "We have a fabulous selection of small business exhibiting with us, all taking a huge leap of faith attending an event that has never run before, some are nervous because we are trying to give them a big show vibe, but mostly they are all very excited.

"All of the businesses we are showcasing are local and based within a 30 mile radius of Chester. I do not think the public are aware of how many fabulous, unique stores and artists they have right on their doorsteps."

The event also holds a personal significance for Anita's good friend and co-organiser, Donna Harrison.

"Donna, previously and currently, raises funds for Mountain Rescue. Last year she had a bad fall from her horse and the people that she fundraises for, and knew, were the people that managed to get her stabilised and to an ambulance some distance away.

"Her husband was airlifted to hospital in a different incident by the Air Ambulance. Donna wanted to put together a significant fundraising event to repay them for their help."

All of the funds raised by entry tickets and raffle prizes will go directly to the two charities, with Mountain Rescue currently seeking to raise £8000 for a new stretcher.

The Christmas Equine Bazaar will take place at Cheshire County Sports Hall, Plas Newton Lane on November 25 and 26. Tickets are £5 on the door or £3 when purchase in advance.
