A CHESTER schoolgirl's star continues to rise as she has completed her role in a new feature film.

Summer-Joules Saunders, who attends St Martin’s Academy in Hoole, has been acting since the age of five years old.

Having already appeared in several TV and film jobs including on Sky, Universal, BBC, Channel 4, Amazon and Netflix productions, the nine-year-old has been cast in a new film titled The Angel of the North.

The new film tells the story of a bare-knuckle world fighting champion who fights his way through life. Summer-Joules plays as stepdaughter Lucy to James McCrory, who in turn is played by John Francis Duddy, a former IBA World Champion and now actor.

The film is directed by Sean Cronin and written by Cy Biggs.

Sean said: “Summer-Joules is a force of nature, a fantastic young breakthrough talent that is going to be a huge star and I would work with again with any day of the week, she is a legend in the making."

Tequila Carter, make-up department head, said: "Summer-Joules is by far the most talented young actor I’ve worked with, watching her go from sitting in my makeup chair being a chatty little nine-year-old full of questions and wonder, to then watching her just switch on her character and smash her scenes in one or two takes like a pro actor who has been working for many years at honing their craft.

Summer-Joules Saunders was not phased by the prosthetic make-up that had to be applied to actor John Duddy as part of filming.

"I had Summer-Joules with me as I was applying prosthetics to her on-screen dad played by John Duddy so that she wasn’t shocked or afraid by his face looking swollen and bruised, and she happily sat and asked me about each piece I was applying and was very comfortable and had the attitude of an adult around all my fake blood and wounds.

"She took direction like an adult actor would and fully understood everything that Sean Cronin the director was asking of her and she pulled off a very authentic Geordie accent that she had practised only an hour earlier.

"This wonderful young lady will be one to watch for as her career continues to blossom and I’m excited to see what her future brings as she’s a star no doubt in my mind at all!”

Summer-Joules certainly enjoys a challenge, always reading scripts, last minute auditions and hopping on the train to London and other destinations just hours before been told she has got an audition or booked for the job. She has recently signed with agent Trudy Aronson at PremiereTalent Management in Vancouver, Canada. Trudy has clients working on virtually every production being shot in Vancouver as well as globally and is working closely with the young star Summer-Joules and in regular contact. Trudy also represents stars such as Christian Convery who is the series lead on Sweet Toot and many more.

There is also hard work from the Majestic Academy of Performing Arts in Chester, where Summer-Joules does the majority of her training for film and tv and musical theatre.

Summer-Joules will be performing with other MAPA students in smash hit Christmas musical Elf Jr in Ellesmere Port on December 15-16. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/elf-jr-the-musical-tickets-727430081957 .

Summer-Joules is also working towards her visa to work in Hollywood as she continues to work with professionals from all over the globe.

A film director from a recent, yet-to-be-revealed project filmed in August added: “Summer-Joules is not only the most humblest but also possess an incredible disposition as an actor, her emotion and sheer drive, is wow. It’s not just impressive for her age – no, it’s impressive for anyone of any age.”
