AN Ellesmere Port theatre is delighted to announce the return of a classic tale to its venue in time for Christmas.
Enchanting and critically acclaimed production Little Red will be entertaining families at Theatre Porto when it arrives from December 8, in a run which will last until January 13, 2024.
The captivating adventure is a playful and imaginative twist on a timeless fairy tale, entirely suited to families with young ones (ages 4+).
A spirited heroine embarks on a journey to Grandma’s house, encountering talking sheep, dancing trees, and a charismatic, jazz-singing Wolfie along the way. But can she resist their charm and safely reach Grandma’s house?
In a world where the woodcutter fells all the trees, are the wolves truly the villains, or is Grandma, the 'trophy-hunter,' concealing a hidden secret?
Originally commissioned by Unity Theatre in Liverpool back in 2016, this production is making a triumphant return to the North-West with a fresh and exciting rendition brought by Theatre Porto, HOME, MLCP and in association with Eastern Angles.
The original script, crafted by the award-winning Kevin Dyer, was developed through a creative process led by the original director, Nina Hajiyianni, who is delighted to be revisiting this captivating tale.
She said: “Little Red has always held a special place in my heart – a heartwarming story, masterfully told, with something to enchant everyone and provoke contemplation.
"It’s a real treat to bring this show back, and I eagerly anticipate sharing it with audiences in Ellesmere Port and Manchester.”
