POST office facilities are back up and running in a Chester community, to the delight of the councillor for the area.

Customers from Lache and Saltney, alongside others travelling along Hough Green to and from the border with Wales, can now benefit from the postal offer at Londis at 1 Chester Street, near St Mark's Church.

Naveen Kalah and partner Kalai have been running the Londis convenience store for some time and were keen to develop the Post Office service, so Naveen decided to undergo the demanding training involved and is now a fully qualified postmaster.

According to Cllr Alex Tate, who represents Lache and the English part of Saltney: “Residents are so pleased to see this much-needed service reinstated as many people have been unable to travel the distance to the next nearest option in Westminster Park. And they did not want to travel by bus into the city centre.

“I had been very concerned about the lack of an essential service and complained to the Post Office.”
