A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving after a crash on the M56.

The crash occurred between junction nine for the M6 at Lymm and junction 10 for Stretton.

As well as drink driving and drug driving, she stands accused of assaulting an emergency worker and failing to stop after a collision. 

Cheshire Police confirmed today, Tuesday, that after being arrested, the suspect was released under investigation.

The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, October 25, around 9.55pm.

Cheshire Fire attended the incident, sending three fire engines from Stockton Heath, Lymm and Altrincham fire stations to help remove drivers from their cars.

Cheshire Police also attended the incident.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At around 9.55pm on Wednesday, October 25, police were called to reports of a collision involving two vehicles on the M56 eastbound, between junction nine and 10.

“A woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, drug driving, assaulting an emergency worker and failing to stop after a collision.

“She has since been released under investigation.”
