FIVE men are to be sentenced in relation to disorder at Chester FC's play-off semi-final against Brackley Town in May.

The men have all been charged with a variety of offences in relation to the disorder that occurred at the end of the match at the Deva Stadium on May 7.

On Tuesday and Friday of this week, a total of nine men appeared at Chester Magistrates court to face the charges.

The following men all admitted affray and will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court next month:

  • Daniel Radford, 22, of Sumner Road, Chester.

  • Joseph Gillam, 24, of High Street, Saltney.

  • Mark Perrin, 34, of Auckland Road, Chester.

  • John O’Hanlon, 36, of Arnhem Way, Chester.

  • Timonthy Mills,  39, of Penmon Close, Chester.

The court was told that the men were part of a large group who had entered the pitch at the end of the match. They made their way over to the section of the stadium where Brackley Town fans were and engaged in threats of violence and missile throwing. Police were forced to create a mini-cordon to keep opposing fans apart. 

Other men to appear were as follows:

  • Matthew Dalton, aged 20, of The Street, Mickle Trafford pleaded not guilty to throwing a missile. Dalton will stand trial at Chester Magistrates Court next year. 
  • Shayne Warton, of Egerton Street, New Brighton, indicated no plea to the charge of affray. 
  • Joe Henry, 33, of Blacon Point Road, Chester, indicated no plea to the charge of affray.

  • Sean Mooney, 28, of Kensington Green, Chester, was handed a three-year Football Banning Order and fined £667 after admitting pitch invasion and Section 4A public order offences.
