A person has died after being hit by a train on the Wirral line at the weekend, it has been confirmed.
British Transport Police officers were called to Green Lane railway station in Tranmere at around 11.15pm on Saturday (October 7) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Trains on the Wirral line were brought to a standstill during the incident.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
