A PROFESSIONAL footballer clocked speeding through roadworks on a motorway has been banned from driving ‘due to repeat offending’.

Josh Tymon, from Knutsford, appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on September 8.

The 24-year-old, who plays for Championship club Swansea City, pleaded guilty to exceeding a 60mph speed limit on the M62 at an earlier hearing on April 19, this year.

The case was adjourned for sentencing.

Tymon was caught on camera speeding in a Mercedes on September 14, last year.

The defender, a former Stoke City star, admitted speeding at 70mph on the M62 westbound in Rochdale between junctions 19 and 18 m whilst a temporary speed restriction was in place.

Tymon was fined £1,666 and ordered to pay £666 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

The defendant was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months ‘due to repeat offending’, the court heard.

His driving licence was endorsed.

Magistrates took his guilty plea into consideration when imposing the sentence.

Tymon was given until October 9 to pay the £2,422 court penalty.
