A NEW drama has been spotted filming in Wirral.

Channel 4's new six-part drama The Gathering, has been filming across the Liverpool City Region.

Set on Merseyside, The Gathering will centre around an attack on a teenage girl during a rave on a small island.

It will follow a group of teens who could have committed the crime, along with their parents, who each give a cause for suspicion.

Last week, residents spotted film crew at Red Rocks in Hoylake, and on King's Drive in Caldy.

Who will make up the cast?

From World Productions, the award-winning producers of Line of Duty, and written by acclaimed writer and director Helen Walsh – in what is her first original script for television – The Gathering will star newcomer Eva Morgan and Sadie Soverall (Little Bone Lodge) as Kelly and Jessica.

Also joining the cast is Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point, The Lazarus Project) who will play Jessica’s mother Natalie while Warren Brown (The Responder) is cast as Kelly’s single parent Paul, and Richard Coyle (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) as solicitor Jules.

The cast will also include Liverpool’s own Sonny Walker (The Responder) as Adam and newcomers Luca Kamleh-Chapman as Bazi and fellow Scouser Hebron Tedros as Dessie.

Writer Helen Walsh said: "I’m thrilled to have a brilliant cast on board led by such established talent.

"Our young actors, many of whom are newcomers, have wowed us with their raw and heartfelt depictions of teenagers having to navigate adult problems in morally ambiguous worlds."
