A MAN who was part of a drunken duo in Chester city centre seen diving into bushes and exposing themselves to passing motorists has been fined.

Gareth Millman, 28, of James Close, Ludlow, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, September 29 to the sole charge of being drunk and disorderly.

Prosecuting, Laura Ward said it was at 12.45am on September 2 when police officers driving along St Martin's Way saw two men on the opposite carriageway gesticulating towards the car.

Police went to speak to them and saw one of the two was lying in the carriageway, and was helped up by officers.

The pair, who appeared intoxicated, were warned about their behaviour and told to make their way home. Officers contacted CCTV operators to check that would be the case.

CCTV cameras monitored the pair on the pavement screaming, then diving into bushes.

Millman had dropped his trousers, exposing himself to passing motorists, and had urinated in a doorway.

Upon his arrest, Millman said: "I just want to go home now please sir."

He had no previous convictions.

Millman, defending himself, said he was '9/10 drunk' and had "no excuse" for his behaviour, with the legal adviser suggesting he had been acting 'like a teenager'.

He told the court: "I don't wish to be in this situation again and I will do my best not to be."

Magistrates fined Millman £176, plus £120 court costs and a £70 victim surcharge.
