As well as appearing in print, our death notice pages will remain online as a lasting tribute to the memory of those we have lost.

Stewart Clark

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Stewart on the 21st August 2023 aged 59 years. Only beloved son of the late Margaret Sinclair Brown. Funeral service to take place on Monday 25th September 2023 at Chester Crematorium at 2:40pm. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Stewart are appreciated for Kidney Research North West. Cyril Richard “Cy” Cyril Richard Doherty

June 21, 1941 - September 10, 2023 (age 82)

It is with deep sadness that the family of Cyril Doherty announce his passing on Sunday September 10, 2023, at the age of 82. Cyril (Cy) was born in Birkdale (Southport), Merseyside to Richard Doherty and Christina Marshall. Cyril studied math and statistics at Liverpool University attaining a BSc. He was assistant registrar at Sussex University and was seconded by the civil service / foreign office. He then worked at London University’s registrar’s office. He also worked on the Royal Commission into Education under the Thatcher Government. He later lived in Cambridge and worked at Cambridge University as Senior Assistant Registrar and Academic Planning Officer until his retirement. Cyril relocated to Chester where he enjoyed retirement. He traveled to Canada on many occasions to visit family, enjoyed visiting other countries including France, Cambodia and Vietnam to name a few. He was also a cancer survivor. Cy passed peacefully with his friend at his side at Countess of Chester Hospital after a brief illness. Cyril is survived by his brother Keith Doherty, sister-in law Ann, nieces, Nicola (Michael), Joanna, and Kate, and grandsons Robert and Andrew, his friend Steve, and his friends at the Marlborough Arms (Chester) and The Eagle (Cambridge). To honour Cyril’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation.

Robert Francis ‘Rob’ Hughes

Peacefully passed away at The Countess of Chester Hospital on 11th September 2023, aged 72 years. Reunited with his loving wife Joan. Dearly loved father to Simon and Paul. Father-in-law to Jennifer and Laura. Much loved grandad to Maisy, Callum and Oliver. Cherished brother to Dennis, Ray, Chris and the late Eileen. Brother-in-law to Barbie, Pam, Alan and Jack. Rob will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service to be held on Monday 9th October 2023 at Chester Crematorium at 11:20 a.m. Family flowers only please, however a donation in aid of Claire House Hospice would be gratefully received.
