A SERIOUS collision between a bus and a pedestrian has closed a section of the A55 Expressway by Chester this morning (Wednesday, September 20).

The closure is on the A55 westbound entry slip road from the A41, due to a serious collision at Junction 39 (Sainsbury's/Boughton heath Roundabout), according to traffic monitoring website Inrix.

The road closure has caused significant congestion on surrounding roads in Chester, and motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journey this morning.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said: "At around 6.50am today, Wednesday 20 September, police were called to reports of a collision on the westbound slip road between the A41 and A55 at Chester.

"Officers attended the scene and found that the collision involved a bus and a pedestrian.

"Police and paramedics remain in attendance at the incident and the road is currently closed.

"The closure is expected to remain in place for some time and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

"An investigation into the collision has been launched and anyone with any information or video footage is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML 1649207."
